LTI DataComm’s Community Outreach Program Supports Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Annual Walk for the Cure
Sterling, VA – June 07, 2009– As part of LTI’s Community Outreach program, 32 members of the LTI Team and their families joined 2,500+ local participants in the 2009 Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundations’ Walk for the Cure. Held at the National Conference Center in Lansdowne, VA, this annual walk strives to provide valuable funding to JDRF International, the leading charitable funder and advocate of diabetes research worldwide.
LTI participants pledged to raise awareness and solicited support from the community to meet their fundraising goals. Additionally, funds raised by the LTI program were matched by the company, resulting in a total contribution of over $2,800.00.
“This disease touches so many of us- both in the community and within our own walls,” said Marlo Swanson, director of Human Resources. “The ability to help this effort, both financially, and by physically participating in a combined show of strength at the walk itself, was inspiring for all those involved.”
LTI’s Community Outreach team strives to identify those local efforts where employees can take a moment to give back to their community and those around them. This voluntary team consists of employees who meet regularly to discuss and plan corporate participation in local events and charitable efforts.
