LTI DataComm Awarded Prime Contract from USVI Bureau of Information Technology (BIT) for Multi-Island Wireless Network Connectivity

Sterling, VA – March 20, 2009– LTI DataComm, a woman-owned/veteran founded small business, was awarded a multi-million dollar contract to work with the USVI Bureau of Information Technology (BIT) on a government-wide network infrastructure upgrade to provide an integrated, survivable wireless solution to support the existing government network covering the islands of St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. John. 

This program brings together several independent efforts as part of a larger plan to improve the USVI’s ability to support first responders and increase the effectiveness of emergency support.  LTI DataComm has been contracted to design, engineer, install, and program manage the overall microwave backbone that will support call centers, the Land Mobile Radio system and transport voice and data information to various government agencies throughout the territory.  

The LTI team provided extensive technical expertise to the USVI BIT and worked closely with them to design and implement a carrier class, point-to-point, fully protected microwave wireless network throughout the island territory. The network was designed to provide high speed, fully protected wireless links between key facilities over three islands, including automatic fault fail-over protection. This solution integrated the current government network with the newly installed wireless backbone.  Installation services included site, tower and facility construction as well as testing and commissioning of the wireless network.
