LTI DataComm Broadcasts USVI Governor’s Address Worldwide with VBrick Video Over IP Solution
Demonstration Highlights Valuable Communication Application for Constituents
Sterling, VA – February 27, 2008 – LTI DataComm, a leading provider of communications and network solutions to the Federal Government and VBrick Systems, Inc. a leading provider of standards-based IP video solutions, partnered to enable Governor DeJongh’s 2nd Annual State of the Territory Address to be web-broadcast live to its citizens and interested parties throughout the world.
Prior to the January 22nd speech LTI personnel installed a VBrick encoder within the VI Legislature building and received a full-mix video and audio feed from KQ2-TV. The resulting 256Kbps encoded live stream of the event was pushed to a PowerStream hosting server for the duration of the address. A dedicated web site (www.vbrick.net/usvi) hosted the stream which was advertised on the Governor’s web-site to constituents and government employees, both within the Territory and abroad.
“We are proud that we were able to help the Governor to more broadly disseminate his message” said John Hall, VP, Sales & Marketing for LTI. “By working closely with BIT we were able to showcase a new technology in a real and practical application and demonstrate how new technologies and applications can improve communications throughout the Territory.”
This pro-bono event showcased the technology focus of Governor DeJongh’s administration while highlighting the effectiveness of the USVI Government’s vanguard information technology department, the Bureau of Information Technology (BIT), for implementing innovative communications solutions through strong partnerships with commercial entities like LTI.
“Communicating clearly with busy citizens and other constituents can be challenging,” said Rich Mavrogeanes, founder and CTO, VBrick Systems, Inc. “The US Virgin Islands’ government is reaching key audiences quickly and effectively by streaming important presentations that cut through the clutter, provide timely information, and convey key points easily to a wide audience.”
Through the implementation of this technology, BIT can now provide the government of the US Virgin Islands with flexible, real-time options to enable mass-communication with the electorate and governmental designates on critical Territorial issues. Additionally, this technology can be used by all VI Agencies to present live government events, broadcast emergency messaging and to communicate with a broader audience of constituents who desire more interaction with their elected government.
